Training Burn with the Lyndonville
Fire Department
08-02-2003
On Saturday August 2, the Lyndonville Fire Department conducted
a combined smoke machine and live-fire training at an abandoned
house. Firefighters from St. Johnsbury also attended the training.
Initial drills were conducted using a smoke machine to simulate
fire conditions. Scenarios focused on the primary search, victim
removal and initial fire attack. Forcible entry and thermal imaging
camera use were also touched on.
Upon completion of the interior exercises the building was burned
to the ground. St. Johnsbury's Engine 1 provided water supply,
and Lyndonville Engine 3 supplied the lines to protect exposures.
Close to 20 firefighters participated in the drill.
