July 9, 2009 On July 9th shortly after 1000pm Fire Alarm received multiple calls for a fire in an apartment at 1252 Main St (above The Convenient One). On arrival a moderate smoke condition was visible and crews entered to clear the occupants. Conditions rapidly deteriorated as FF Serrano made a rescue off the 35' ladder of a trapped occupant and the attack crew pushed the fire out of the apartment. The fire had already extended through the 3rd 4th and 5th floors and across the multi level wooden porches on th back of the building. The evacuation was ordered as the roof became compromised and crews searched exposure buildings to clear any remaining occupants. In all two buildings were destoryed in the fire, a third received minor damage from extension and major structural damage during a collapse, and when work crews removed the common wall to the fire building, a fourth received fire damage to the roof and water damage to the interior, and a fifth building received moderate water damage from runoff. All occupants were accounted for, there were 2 minor firefighter injuries. 17 area fire departments assisted with the suppression effort.
