Vehicle Extrication

The A shift was dispatched to a tractor trailer rollover on Interstate 91 near the Lyndonville line. Lyndonville units who were initially dispatched arrived first and reported the driver was trapped. Assistant Chief LaRose arrived with his crew and advised of an extended operation due to extensive disentanglement and no access to the patient. Firefighters Pelow and Montminy streched the lines for the tools and began the process of cutting into the vehicle. Additional crews were dispatched from headquarters, LFD remained on scene, CALEX, LRI and the DHART helicopter landed on the interstate. The complicated operation took several hours with the trapped truck driver being successfully extricated and transported to DHMC with non-life threatening injuries. This accident was the second tractor trailer accident resulting in extrications requiring several hours to complete.
