With the many different types of emergencies that firefighters face today, they must train often to perfect existing techniques, as well as learn new skills. The Call division meets every Wednesday night at the firehouse to drill or have classroom lectures. On the last Saturday on every month the entire department meets together to train. Firefighters hone their skills in areas such as, ventilation, forcible entry, rapid intervention teams, hose lines, ladders and many other areas.

Several firefighters have taken addition courses from outside sources including the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg MD, and the Vermont State Fire Academy in Pittsford. Others have enrolled at colleges throughout New England including Southern Maine Community College, and New Hampshire Community Technical College at Laconia. Most students come back with an Associates Degree in Applied Science with a major in Fire Science. Still other firefighters have taken additional training in emergency medical services.
