2nd Alarm Fire- Rodd Roofing
Perkins Street

The on duty crew responded to a reported building fire at 69 Perkins Street. On arrival the engine company had smoke showing. The officer of the engine transmitted the working fire. The engine company stretched one 1-3/4" handline into the warehouse portion of the building, where they encountered heavy smoke and fire. Assistant Chief Whitcomb arrived on scene a short time later, and transmitted the 2nd alarm. This brought mutual aid companies from Lyndonville and Waterford to the fire scene and a company from Danville to the fire station for coverage. The fire was possibly caused by a chimney fire from the previous evening that extended to storage racks and its contents. The fire did extend into the floor/ceiling area of the abutting fitness center. Three handlines were stretched to extinguish the fire. The buildings sprinkler system did activate causing water damage throughout the fitness center.
